It’s 6:45 am, just finished signing my name and already I got work. Good old Labor Ready. Some of these jobs are a little back breaking. Once I got contracted out to Napa and had to dig a trench 3ft deep and 18 inches wide from the house to the side walk and up under it to change out the water piping.
This particular day I’m riding to Yountville. We unload two 18 wheelers of boxes for the up coming art show displayed by Parkwest and hosted by one of the 5 star hotels. So the first day was the set. It wasn’t bad at all the coordinators ask us to come back a couple more days and to dress nice. I am delegated to be the wax on guy. For those who don’t know this the person who puts the art on the easel for them to bid. We were paid about 8.50 hr but that didn’t include the wonderful lunch or the 4 samples of very tasty wines. One particular sample was in the two thousand dollar range. That’s just make you aware of the caliber.
We have 2 truck loads to unload. Somewhere within the 3 day affair I was impressed. They have many various artist such as Itzchak Tarkay, oils and water colors, Scott Jacobs known Harley Davidson’s first official licensed artist out of Southern Cali, and Tomasz Rut. Somewhere within the 3 day affair I was impressed. How much money was spent, lets just say that some of these paintings would put some people in a house, paid for. Fix someones debt, build credit. Not to discredit the great artwork but just to know how maybe some of these paintings were handled you dont just scrape the face of a painting and still let it go for 125,000.00 or do you. Just joking, I think…
